What the question is asking

Item 9 asks whether you have kissed, or been kissed on, the neck. It is the first item where the checklist moves away from mouth-to-mouth contact, and the wording is reciprocal: giving and receiving both count, so only one box is needed either way.

Where people disagree about what counts

There is little ambiguity about the act. The one question people raise is whether a brief, affectionate neck kiss counts alongside a clearly sexual one. The item does not distinguish them, so under the plain wording both are checked.

Questions about item 9

Does it matter whether I gave or received the neck kiss?

No. Item 9 is written to cover both directions, so either one is enough to check the box. Several other items on the checklist use the same reciprocal phrasing.

Is a neck kiss counted separately from a hickey?

Yes. Item 9 is the kiss and item 11 is the mark. You can check one without the other, and many takers check item 9 alone.

Does a peck on the neck count?

Under the wording, yes. The item does not distinguish between a brief kiss and a lingering one.
