What the question is asking
Item 61 asks whether you have been in love. It is the first purely emotional item on the checklist and, for many takers, the one that most clearly exposes what the total score does and does not measure: having loved someone lowers a purity score by exactly as much as shoplifting does.
Where people disagree about what counts
Nothing about this item can be settled from outside. Whether an intense teenage attachment was love, whether unreciprocated love counts, whether love that faded was still love while it lasted — the checklist asks the reader and accepts the answer.
The test is self-scored and nobody else ever sees your answer, so the only thing that matters is applying one reading consistently across the whole checklist.
