What the question is asking
Item 2 asks whether you have taken part in an outing that you understood at the time to be a date. The checklist attaches no conditions: it does not require a particular setting, a cost, a minimum length, a second date, or any outcome. A coffee that both people treated as a date counts exactly as much as a formal dinner, because every item on this list is worth one point.
Where people disagree about what counts
The recurring disagreement is about one-sided dates — outings where one person thought it was a date and the other thought it was two friends getting food. There is no adjudication built into the checklist. Most takers check the item if they themselves understood it as a date at the time, since the test is self-scored and nobody else sees the answer.
