What the question is asking

Item 51 asks whether someone has caught you masturbating. Notably, the checklist never asks whether you have masturbated at all — only whether you were caught, and whether someone else was in the room. That omission is deliberate and is one of the more commented-on gaps in the list.

Where people disagree about what counts

"Caught" implies the other person realised what was happening. Someone walking in and leaving without noticing is generally not counted. Whether being caught by a parent as a teenager counts is not treated differently from any other case; the item makes no distinction.

The test is self-scored and nobody else ever sees your answer, so the only thing that matters is applying one reading consistently across the whole checklist.
